Internal Beauty
1 Samuel 16:7
“But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.’”
This week, a report published by The British Beauty Council has shown that for the first time, Britons spend more on their beauty than on the combined cost of going to see football matches, working out at the gym and having fun at amusement parks. It is believed that celebrities and social media influencers have helped promote wellness regimes and non-surgical treatments, often referred to as ‘tweakments’.
How sad that mankind has lost the sense of what is on the inside being more important than what people see on the outside – the Lord doesn’t look at our outward appearance but knows our heart. Getting our hearts right with God is much more valuable than external beauty. What does He see when He looks at my heart… your heart?
