Sunday Thought – 29.12.24
As we reach the last Sunday of 2024, we will all look back with different thoughts and emotions. Some will look back with fond/happy memories, for others it will be a year they would prefer to forget! As we look towards 2025, we don’t yet know what opportunities and challenges there will be for us, whether individually or as a community.
The Bible doesn’t promise Christians an easy life – something many can probably testify to all too well. Christians can however take comfort and confidence from the words of the writer of the book of Hebrews:
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,
(NIV, Hebrews 13:5-6)
“Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you.”
So we say with confidence,
“The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?”
Today and on New Year’s Eve, consider whether you personally enjoy this great confidence that God will always be with you and lead you through life’s challenges, whatever the situations that you may have to go through.
Prayer Points for the Week:
- Pray for those who have lost loved ones around the Christmas period, whether this week or in the past.
- Pray for the survivors and families of this week’s two plane crashes.
- Please pray for the situations in Ukraine and the Middle East. For peace; for aid to get through to those in need; for those mourning the loss of loved ones.
