Where Is Your Citizenship?
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honour God with your bodies.
Ephesians 3:20-21
But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Saviour from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.
Until they were in the news this week, would you have heard of the Chagos Archipelago, know where it is and who owns the islands? The UK Government has signed a deal to hand over Chagos Islands to be under the sovereignty of Mauritius and lease back the military base there for £101m a year.
When we accept The Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour we recognise the price He paid for us and so we belong to Him – our citizenship is in heaven. Following Him means we live to serve and honour Him.
