Victory Through Christ

1 Corinthians 15:54-56

When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: ‘Death has been swallowed up in victory. “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

8th May 1945 – ‘Victory in Europe Day’

This week has seen celebrations to commemorate this day from 80 years ago, whilst also taking time to remember those who suffered and lost their lives and those who fought and gave their lives so that Europe could have victory over the Nazi regime under Adolf Hitler.

Christians have a victory to celebrate… When Jesus said, “It is finished!”, in dying on the cross, it was a cry of victory over sin and in rising from the dead He has conquered death. Through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ we can rejoice in that ‘He gives us the victory’, and a promise of eternal life in heaven.
