Sunday Thought – 17.07.22

In the UK at present, the process is underway to choose a new Prime Minister from within the Conservative Party. This is the responsibility of only a very few individuals. However, making choices is a part of everyday life for all people: what we eat, drink, wear etc. More important choices which may arise for people can include choosing a career or life partner.

In the Bible there are many examples of important choices being made but one in particular is presented over and over again. Joshua, who succeeded Moses as leader of the Israelites, confronted his people with the following option: “Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve… But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord” (NIV, Joshua 24:15). Despite the multitude of choices people have to make throughout their lives, an individual’s response to the message of God and Jesus Christ is the most life-changing.

Prayer Points for the Week:

  • Pray that the wild fires in Europe wouldn’t result in loss of life.
  • Pray for the amber and red heat weather warnings in the UK this coming week, that people would be sensible in the hot weather.
  • Please pray for the situation in Ukraine. For peace; for those fleeing the country, leaving loved ones behind; for aid to get through to those in need.
