Sunday Thought – 02.06.24

In the UK at present it is ‘examination season’. Historically, May and June have been the time for end of year educational exams in schools, colleges and universities when students strive to achieve success in their chosen subjects. It can also be a time of stress, anxiety and apprehension for the students, their families and friends! All concerned hope that, through the efforts of the student, good results will be obtained which will hopefully enable progress to a chosen future.

The Bible states that there is no exam for earning success in God’s eyes; there is nothing, apart from believing in Jesus, that people can do to obtain salvation from sin. “For it is by grace you have saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast” (NIV, Ephesians 2:8-9).

If you are a Christian reflecting on the huge privilege of salvation, remember that this has been obtained only through the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus, not by anything you have done.

Prayer Points for the Week:

  • Pray for the family of Rob Burrows and for others affected by Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
  • Pray for peace in Mexico as their general election comes to a close after violence against candidates.
  • Please pray for the situations in Ukraine and the Middle East. For peace; for aid to get through to those in need; for those mourning the loss of loved ones.
