Father’s Day
John 17:1-4
“After Jesus said this, he looked towards heaven and prayed:
“Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do.””
The 15th June, 2025 is Father’s Day in many countries. In the UK, this officially started in 1972 but has origins in the USA from 1908, to remember fathers killed in a mining disaster.
The Lord Jesus, the night before He went to the cross, spoke to His Father and wanted to show His love by saying that what He was going to do was for His Father’s glory. He was obedient to finishing the God’s work of salvation so that we might know God’s love for us and that we can have eternal life by believing in Him. Let us remember the Father’s love for us and show our love for Him in return.
